Laurent La Gamba
French camoulflage artist - "Laurent La Gamba (b. 1967) is an artist, photographer, and video artist interested in pro-crypsis(camouflage) La Gamba’s projects span a variety of in situ installations, performances and photographic installations to look at Procrypsis in relationship to the world of urban space and technology. His work aims at creating a kind of urban camouflage (“homochromie”in French) that mimics what is naturally found in nature with Procrypsis, using painting, photography and video as a tool. This background explains the term for his work: Pro-cryptic Photography."

There are so many more different images out there, and many better than these shown here but these are just a small selection taken from his personal site laurentlagamba.free.fr

Support - India
Tent cards were placed in coffee shops around India, with a small child hidden within it
True Blood opening credits
I apologise for this one, but loved it since i first saw it ages ago. I think these opening credits have got to be one of the best that i personally have seen on a tv series, i think the clever use of strong imagery along with the fitting background music gives a vivid message of what is to come within the programme itself. I think this is a brilliant piece of video editing!!! You're hooked before you've even watched.... but thats just me!

Dr Lakra

'Dr Lakra modifies readymade images by intricately drawing over them. Dr Lakra is a practicing tattoo artist from Mexico, who gave permanent tattoos to visitors at the 2004 Basel Art Fair. Turning his skin technique to pictures of 1950's pin up girls,he covers them with a complex network of sexual and often degrading tattoos and graffiti, which include imaginary and Mexican slang. Their inscription on these half naked women might read as a second textual layer of male desire inscribed over the first' - Martyn Hill

Elective
Well had a great time on elective, glad to finally get something down on paper after a lot of screen based media work, some of the work seemed quite pointless at first but kind of seemed to come together at the end. Saw quite a few artists that caught my eye, so will get them down. Also Martin seemed to be the most enthusiastic tutor EVER, but still i'm glad its over ad done with now!

In 2004 18 employees recieved the implant to gain access to a secure data room.
The government has said no such chip will be used within the public, yet there is always a chance, as these chips could offer instant information on each person and even tracking.
Never say never?
Clarify, what is going to drive change in the future?
- money - economics
- running out of resources
- market pull
- environmental issues
- new technologies
- trends (music, fashion etc)
- new materials
- legal factors

Children of men

As i chose to look at surveillance for this next project (website project) as a start i watched the film 'children of men' (to be truthful i kind of also watched it because its a great film).
It didn't really have much reference to surveillance but gave a good impression of what the future may hold. It particularly shows the STEEPLE analysis quite clearly (social, technical, environmental, economic, political, legal, ethical), mainly through the seperation of ethics which builds the basis of the film. I could talk about the film extensively, but at the end of the day i'm not doing a film review!
If you haven't watched it you have to, especially within this project!!!
